I haven't done a real "what I'm up to" update in a while, so here's a quick one before I leave work on a Friday evening. (I need a life.)
After weeks of wrangling, both my computers seem to be working. (The G3 accelerator card makes my little PowerMac just zip along!) Now I just have to figure out which one to use as primary. Arguing against the PC is the fact that, despite all the diagnosing and fixing that Laura and I have done, it's still unstable and it still crashes unexpectedly, a lot. Arguing against the Mac is the fact that I don't have backup capabilities on it. So it's a dilemma. Of course, knowing Murphy's Law, having typed that I'll go home tonight and neither of 'em will boot up. *roll eyes*
Work has been very busy as we were preparing to go to beta. We sent our stuff to one beta customer today, and they'll be installing it on Monday, and a few more in the next couple of weeks. Excitement!
Grandma's visit has been less stressful for me than for my mom, who's done most of the caretaking. Grandma leaves tomorrow. Her dementia is pretty far advanced and you really just can't give her choices or decisions to make (e.g. "Do you want chicken for dinner?" "Which chair do you want to sit in?") let alone try to convey complex concepts like "so-and-so is coming for dinner tomorrow." It's pretty depressing.
Tomorrow, mom and I and some folks from work will be seeing the Red Sox ... and we'll be in a luxury box!!! AND, Pedro Martinez is pitching!!!!! I'm so excited. I've never sat in a luxury box before. :)
I bought a bottle of calcium-magnesium supplements (actually two bottles, they were on sale buy-one-get-one-free) because I discovered that the multivitamin I take didn't have them. And the cal-mag pills are HUGE! Geez. You're supposed to take two a day, and one could choke a person, I swear. I'm wondering whether it's worth the bother of cutting them in half.
I could type more but there's a nasty-looking insect flying around my office and I don't feel like dealing. I'm outta here, dude. Happy weekend!
