Smallville: "Hourglass"

I had never seen the Smallville episode "Hourglass" all the way through, until last night. And I'm a little confused. It had been my understanding that the common assumption in the fandom is that Lex saw the vision at the end of the episode. But after watching the actual episode, I don't think that interpretation is supported by the text. My interpretation was that he didn't see anything, what we saw was what Cassandra saw. And Lex just freaked out because of how Cassandra reacted to the vision (I'm trying to be non-spoilery here).

So, am I wrong about the common fandom interpretation? Or is there not as much consensus on this one as I seem to think there is? Or what?
