I was computerless all weekend, which of course SUCKED. A while ago when my puter was having Issues(tm), the Lady Lauriel(tm) told me that it sounded like my Windoze install was frelled up and I should do a clean reinstall -- i.e., delete the entire Windows directory and reinstall afresh. So Friday night I took a deep breath and did just that.
And now it won't boot at all. It keeps wanting to detect my new hardware, but then when it starts doing that, it goes into BSOD. And if I try to reinstall Windows again? More BSOD. Wah! Now Laura says it's probably the hard drive and I should just buy myself a new computer.
I *can* read email on my Mac, but it's sooooo slooooooow. 120mHz was fast when we bought the machine, you know. *groan*
Yet I'm a Mac person at heart. So to spend a whole bunch of money on a new Windoze machine rankles. But if I bought a new puter I wouldn't have MS Word! (Because I'm too cheap to buy it, you see.) I went round and round this in my head, and finally hit on the solution. So first thing this morning I sent away for the G3 upgrade card. That'll take my beloved little Mac (formerly my mom's beloved little Mac) all the way up to 500mHz, and since it already has Word on it -- and allegedly, installing the upgrade card doesn't disturb anything -- I'll be able to go back to using the Mac as my primary computer. Then I can decide at more leisure what to do with the damn hard-drive-impaired PC. I may even install Linux on it. Or I may install Linux on the other Mac. Who can say?
Anyway, since I couldn't post all weekend, ( what I did this weekend )
I shan't even speak of the Red Sox this weekend. It was painful, yo. Mom and I are going to the game tomorrow night and they had BETTER not lose as pitifully to frellin' Tampa Bay as they did to the Yankees this past weekend. 'Cause ouch, dude.
