a dream snippet, and explanation
Mar. 6th, 2002 11:43 amI dreamt that there were two messages on my answering machine from people who had wrong numbers. In the dream, I was worried that my phone number had been changed without me knowing about it, so I was using my cell-phone to call my regular phone. But it worked, so I knew that wasn't the problem.
In RL, I had a message recently from someone who clearly wasn't calling me. She said "Hi, it's Mom," and then went on for a while about how she was sorry for Suzie's loss, and was planning to come up for the funeral, and wanted to know what was a good hotel in the area. Of course, she didn't leave a phone number for me to call her back and tell her she had the wrong number. (I guess you don't leave your phone number when you think you're talking to the machine of someone who would call you Mom.)
Don't people listen to the answering-machine greetings before they start to talk? Or did she think her child and Suzie would have a message saying "Hi, you've reached Joan and Bini"?
